Fix deposit and booking payment problems
Check a missing checkout deposit, understand refund eligibility, and avoid confusing status edits with payments.
On this page
Start with the event's payment setup and the Shopify order. A manual status change in the app does not move money.
Symptom: A deposit is missing at checkout
Check 1: Event deposit settings
- Check: The event might be set to book without payment. The deposit might be turned off.
- Fix:
- Open Events/Services.
- Select the event.
- Ensure customers pay to book it.
- Go to General.
- Confirm Take a Deposit Payment is enabled.
- Review the deposit amount or percentage.
- Test the product through Shopify checkout.
Check 2: Deposit Engine setting
- Check: The product line might show the full price in the cart. The deposit reduction only appears at checkout.
- Fix:
- Check the final amount due in Shopify checkout. Do not assume the deposit worked until you see this total.
- If the reduction is missing, go to Settings → General → Deposit Discount Engine (Beta).
- Verify which deposit engine is active. If you selected Use the Shopify Discount Function for deposits (V2), confirm it says Automatic discount registered for this shop. after saving.
Symptom: A refund option is missing
Check 3: Shopify order eligibility
- Check: The booking might be Unpaid or Pending, so there may be nothing to refund yet. The order might contain other items.
- Fix:
- Open the paid booking.
- Choose Cancel.
- Look for Also refund this booking on Shopify. This only appears if the Shopify order is eligible.
- Choose Refund only this booking or Refund the entire order if applicable.

Check 4: Payment status overrides
- Check: The Payment status dropdown in the app is just a label. It cannot issue refunds.
- Fix: Compare the status dropdown with the actual Shopify order. See Refunds and payment status for the true cancellation flow. If Shopify reports a refund error, check the order in Shopify and retry.
